Jake Dean is responsible for a quite a few trees that now grow in Georgia. They are products of the reforestation side of the company, which has planted trees for private landowners for more than 20 years.
In 2002 Jake expanded his business when he purchased an LT40 Wood-Mizer sawmill and began to saw logs into lumber for customers. What began as a new income avenue quickly became a passion. Jake purchased a LT70 Wood-Mizer sawmill in March 2006 as cutting volume increased.
After several years of portable saw milling Jake set his sawmill operation in Hazelhurst, Ga. to cut over sized log and special orders for Beasley Forest Products , Inc. Four years and over several million Board Feet later, Jake remains passionate about what he does for a living. Jake says every day he is sawmilling feels each log is like a Christmas present just waiting to be unwrapped.”
Working closely with landowners from start to finish, we strive to produce the highest quality lumber possible from your trees.
Logs are saw milled best when they are still green, which means within a few weeks of them being felled. Logs can be sawed regardless of the length of time since they were taken down however for the best quality lumber green is preferred.
Keep the logs clean. Dirt and mud dull a sawmill blade and dirty logs need to be cleaned before they can be sawed.
Check for nails and other foreign materials, ( i.e. rocks, fence wire, fence insulators) and if you find some, mark them. If we hit a nail while sawmilling we will have to charge you for the damaged blade.
