Mission
To strive for excellence through quality and integrity.
Excellence is an achievable goal that can always be attained. The quality of the experience, advice and products produced has been a corner stone for Jones Wood Products. This will always be accompanied by the integrity, structural and moral, of the materials and values we foster.
Motto
To use time tested principles in professional and personal endeavors.
Wood Science and Technology is the study of the end use of trees. The forester goes into the woods and tells the logger which trees to cut down. The logger then cuts the trees and passes off all of the logs (and other wood materials) to the wood scientist. It is up to the wood scientist to create something out of the raw materials. From cutting, to drying, gluing, painting and the sale of a final finish wood product. Mechanical processing, engineering, chemistry and business are all part of what the wood scientist has to do.
In starting Jones Wood Products I had all of this in mind and keep it in mind each day through all of the projects we do and complete for our customers.
Since 2011 we have been in the timber framing and building products industry. Our passion for wood products has driven us through many changes since we started.
Jones Wood Products offers two sawmilling services. Each has its own advantages and purposes.
The portable band sawmill is most often used to cut logs into building and construction material. Ben Jones is a certified sawyer and sawmill with the state of New Hampshire. He has taken the grading certification course and can structurally certify the material he cuts to be used in construction projects. Many of our customers utilize this method to cut timbers for new and historic restoration timber frame projects. The mill is mobile and is towed directly to the job site. Ben can set up anywhere there is truck access.
The Alaskan chain saw mill is most often used in remote locations which don’t have truck access. This saw is used to cut out slabs or planks for table tops, bar tops with or without live edge, bed frames and other rustic furniture. It can cut logs up to 54 inches wide and unlimited length.
Hardwood and softwood can be cut with both mills.
All trees are not created equal!
Since all trees and logs are not the same our sawmill services have different rates. Quotes are usually done over the phone but if you have a different or specific project we will come to you.
